The remnants of the old fort are still present there and a Ganga Canal originates right through the same. The Pundir King’s had a region under control with 105 villages in Aligarh and around 180 villages in Mainpuri. Entire Eetawah and 6 more villages in Muzzafarnagar also came under their fold. Famous historian Dr. Dabral has to say that the King of Mayapur region had his sway spread uptill Ramganga. Smaller forts under petty chieftains were then prevalent in the sub Himalayan belt of Garhwal, Kumaon and this was a famous and powerful kingdom under a King named Vatsrajdeva.
The Kumaon’s Katuri King had his concert Jiaji, a princess from Mayapur.
The famous historian Col. Tadd writes in his treatise on the history of Rajasthan, that one Chand Pundir (Chaand Singh Pundir) was the ruler/king of Lahore whose daughter was married to Prithvi Raj Chauhan. This Chand singh’s elder son Dheer Singh Pundir was the Commander in chief of great King Prithvi Raj. According to past history, Chaand Singh Pundir was son of oner sailorband Pundir (the king of Mayapur), he had established Lahore as his Capital and got a massive state as gift. His son in law by virtue of his strength of power & bravery had been appointed as accredited representative or Commander in chief of the entire N-W Frontier. He dispelled all plunderings of Mohd. Gauri in league with legendary Prithvi Raj with credibility. During the last attack of Gauri, Chittorgarh’s Maharana Surmer Singh (Husband of Pritha & PrithviRaj’s Brother in law) had been brought back by Chand Singh Pundir . They had given defeat to Gauri several times but during his last attack Maharana Singh & his son Karan Singh were defeated & killed in this battle and became martyrs. When Pritha got this news she offered herself to become a Sati.
Upon death of Prithvi Raj in Gazni (Afganistan) his son Ranjit Singh (son of Chand Pundir’s daughter) got control of the throne. It was only for reasons of Chand Pundir’s bravery and strength that Prithvi Raj has appointed him as Chieftain (accredited representative or Commander-in-chief) the entire N-W Province, who provided protection to he region in full.
